Design Features

High precision temperature monitoring and control development continues forward utilizing an internal temperature sensor connected to a third terminal on the header of Honeywell's TS700 high reliability bimetallic thermal switches.

The temperature sensor is thermally mounted to the internal surface of the thermal switch and is contained within the clean, dry, hermetic, He/N2 filled enclosure. This protects the temperature sensor and eliminates the need to provide separate packaging and wiring of sensors, providing the ultimate in savings and reliability for installations requiring thermal regulation, protection and monitoring.

Unique Advantages

  1. Enhanced Reliability - the amount of wiring and the number of connections are reduced. The temperature sensor is contained within a protected hermetically sealed environment. Each thermal switch also offers built in redundancy with the combination of sensor and bimetallic disc driven switch.

  2. Reduced Weight - combining the switch and the sensor reduces weight. No need for separate packaging and separate mounting of sensors. These savings multiply by the number of applications per vehicle.

  3. Labor Savings - fewer wires requiring solder connections and fewer sensors to be mounted on the spacecraft.

  4. Space Savings - frequently the space on the satellite is at a premium. By combining sensors, space is more effectively utilized.
